Dear subscribers,
2023 is at a close—a bustling, unhinged, world-historic year. As promised, we’ve been pounding the pavement, bringing you stories from our particular corners of the cosmopolitan purgatory.
This year, Cam interviewed body fascist fashionistas, figured out who was saving the Tote (again), and infiltrated a members-only wellness spa run by Melbourne’s most despised property developer. Sally attended a Jordan Peterson stadium show, gently probed the male lesbian community, and fondled Frank Moorhouse’s undies in the Fryer Library archives. And Oscar recited Latin Mass, chugged raw milk, and jumped on the couch with the Lacanians of Melbourne.
We also interviewed Celeste Liddle about the politics of indecision in the lead up to the Voice Referendum. And over the past several weeks, we’ve spent time talking to activists, organisers, and participants from within the ongoing movement fighting for Palestinian liberation.
The Paris End is entirely funded by our readers, and we want to sincerely thank you for your support. After this week, we’ll be taking a break for the summer, but we’ll be back in the first week of February with fresh reports from around town. Subscriptions will be paused until then.
To tide you over, we present our final instalment of THE STARS for the year, a list of summer recommendations compiled by your editors with help from friends and frenemies of TPE.
Thanks again, subs—we’ll catch you on the Paris End.
xx The Editors
