Your editors didn’t make it to the VCA Grad Show opening night, so decided on a novel approach instead: to actually go and look at the art in the sober light of day. Such an approach has its downsides. After two shared bottles of warm Merlot on the hill, you’re way more likely to reach into a glory hole (see: Zane Edwards) or try to resuscitate a fallen angel made in the image of its creator (see: Michelle Yuan Fitz-Gerald). But it also allowed us to put on our critic caps (sorry to scoop you, Memo) and ask pressing questions like: is grotty girl abjection still a thing?
